Work ahead
My #1 Tip for being successful in high school is to work ahead of the syllabus or pacing guide! Give yourself some margin, so that when something comes up (illness, etc.), you do not fall behind…instead, hopefully, you will fall right on time.
Then…work ahead again 🙂
My students sometimes fall off the bandwagon, so to speak, if they are not working ahead. They get further and further behind, until it is very difficult to catch up at the end of the semester. I don’t want that to happen to them or you.
If you have a trip planned, you absolutely should plan ahead as soon as you know about the trip! For more information, see my post on Working Ahead Before a Vacation.
