Single-Tasking

Single-Tasking

Single-tasking allows you to focus on one chore at a time. This will go much faster than trying to multitask while doing your chores. For example, if you focus on only one type of chore at a time (say, dusting), and dust the entire home at once, you do not waste time switching tools–you and your duster quickly move from room to room.

Some people may prefer to clean one room at a time, essentially multi-tasking by dusting, scrubbing the sink and shower, and cleaning the toilet. This helps some people by not allowing for distractions that may arise by moving from room to room.

Single-tasking is best for someone who is overwhelmed and does not have much time to spend on chores. By planning a single type of chore to complete each day (or whatever frequency works for you), you can plan a faster way to a clean home.

Single-tasking also works well for homework. Don’t try to watch TV and do your homework at the same time! Put your phone in another room so you’re not tempted to look at every notification.
