Top 3 Tips for Preparing for your Final Exams
- Write down exam dates on your planner or calendar. How many days do you have left to prepare?
- Gather your study guides.
- If study guides are not provided, you will have to make your own. See how much you can complete on your own without looking at your notes or textbook. Circle the questions that you could not answer.
- Check your work- circle questions you answered incorrectly.
- Focus on studying the questions that you circled. You already know the other information- make the most of your time and study what you do not know (yet!).

- Make a study plan- include one or several of the following:
- What method is best for you?
- Having someone quiz you? If so, find a study buddy in your class and quiz each other.
- Re-writing notes? Using different colors for different categories? Re-writing notes, then going back over them and highlighting main ideas?
- Making flashcards (either on paper or Quizlet)? Note- yes, there are probably existing Quizlets on your class- however, you will learn more by creating your own!
- Time:
- Plan to study 15-20 minutes per class per day
- Divide the number of circled questions on your study guide by the number of days left to study = number of questions to study per day
- What method is best for you?
Number of circled questions / number of days left to study = number of questions to study per day
