I bought The Road to Paradise, which is part of the Vintage National Parks series while on vacation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee last summer. We had just driven through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so this series appealed to me (I’m very much a mood reader). So I bought them all 😂
Here’s the Setup
In 1927 avid naturalist Margie Lane convinces her father to procure her a position at the fledgling Mount Rainer National Park. Chief Ranger Ford Brayden takes his work seriously, and doesn’t relish watching over an idealistic senator’s daughter with few practical survival skills. Then Margie’s ex-fiancé sets his mind on developing the Paradise Inn into a tourist playground.
Margie fiercely defends Mount Rainer and falls in love, all while working her dream job as a naturalist. This sweet romance does a great job of depicting the beauty of the park- the author worked there as a park ranger for a time.
Age Recommendation for The Road to Paradise
I would recommend this series for high school students and up.
The Road to Paradise is my M. Judson Reads 2023 challenge book for November- “A book somewhere you would like to visit.” I would love to visit all of the National Parks some day!
While in Gatlinburg, I also bought these postcards from a local hiking store to use in my scrapbooks!
