It was delightful to see Kaz and Ruby Sutton from Picture Weekly again in Coronation Year. I first heard their (fictional) stories in Good Night From London by Jennifer Robson, set during the Blitz, which is one of my all-time favorites.
Coronation Year was also fabulous. The Blue Lion serves as a unique vantage point for the time period leading up to Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation and the Coronation parade itself.
British high tea at the Blue Lion hotel sounds like quite a treat. I’m planning a homemade version for May 6 (Coronation Day/ Kentucky Derby Day).
I’m planning Kentucky Hot Brown sliders, cucumber sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, scones, and fruit.
Here is the recipe I use for Hot Browns: https://iamhomesteader.com/kentucky-hot-brown-sliders/
I loved this article on tea sandwich recipes: https://www.ohhowcivilized.com/tea-sandwiches-tea-parties/
I’m still looking for a good scone recipe…let me know if you have one!
Age Recommendation:
Coronation Year is appropriate for high school.
