Whether you set yearly, quarterly, monthly, or weekly goals (or anything in between), take some time this week to check in with your teen.
Are they making progress towards their goals?
Have priorities changed? It’s okay to let go of goals mid-year. It doesn’t mean you’re a failure. It means you’re choosing to focus on something else for an important reason.
Is there a small step towards a goal that your teen could do this week?
Are their goals actionable? Do they actually have control over the outcome?
If not, check out my post on goal setting.
For example, if your goal is to win State in cross country, you do not have control over that. Other athletes are outside of your control. But you can train to beat your fastest time.
