The Rose Code will teach you about codebreaking in Britain during WWII.
This book had a slightly more cerebral feel than Kate Quinn’s other books (The Alice Network, The Huntress); that being said, I tore through this book! I’m definitely glad I read it in print though (I listened to The Alice Network and The Huntress on audio). Kate Quinn is one of my auto-buy authors!!
I know many people have been feeling burned out on World War II historical fiction, but please don’t let that stop you from reading The Rose Code!! At some points this story about Bletchley Park code breakers sounds improbable, but Quinn actually didn’t stray too far from the truth!
As Dorothy Allison said, “literature is the lie that tells the truth,” which is why I love how you can learn history through books- historical fiction is one of the most engaging ways to teach history!
