You’ve fallen behind, or are failing a class halfway through the semester. How do you turn things around?
2 Steps to Re-Set in the Middle of the Semester
- Review your planning process.
- Do you have important deadlines written down in your planner? If not, spend some time doing this for all of your classes.
- How do you get caught back up to the syllabus and pacing guide?
- What date do you want to be caught up by? (This date may vary by teacher preference, the exam date, type of class, etc.)
- How many assignments are you behind?
- *Multiply large assignments such as projects or papers by 5 (because they will take 5 times as long to complete).
- Total number of assignments / # of days you have to catch up (including weekend days and holidays) = # of assignments you need to complete per day
For example: You are behind 10 assignments, including 1 project.
9 (regular assignments) + (1 x 5) = 14
You have 7 days to catch up.
14 / 7 = 2 assignments per day
