4 Reasons Students Take Virtual Classes:
1. To Graduate Early
Some students take a full load of classes face-to-face, and add on virtual classes in order to graduate early. Usually, students who do this are very motivated and self-driven. They typically have a very good reason for wanting to graduate early. Some may want to begin college early, or take dual credit or AP classes in high school. Some want to enter the workforce earlier.
2. To Focus on Other Goals
Some students want to focus on improving at a specific sport, or are on travel teams. Virtual classes make it easier to make that commitment.
Other students may work full or part time, and a flexible virtual class schedule allows them to work more hours.
Some students are caregivers (either for a parent or grandparent, or for their own child). Many of these students also work part time.
3. To Access Classes They Can’t Get at their Local School
Some students may choose to take a virtual class because that subject is not available at their local school: AP or honors level classes, advanced language classes, specialized electives.
4. For Health Reasons
Students who have certain types of medical or mental health conditions may choose to take virtual classes for the schedule flexibility.
Students with anxiety may choose to take virtual classes to avoid overwhelming crowds.
These are the main reasons that my students choose to take virtual classes.
